Orange, a global real estate giant

Orange, France's leading telecom operator, has a colossal real estate portfolio with 85,000 sites and 83,000 buildings to manage worldwide. This represents 6 million m² of gross surface area, spread over 200,000 workstations.

As the heir to France Télécom, Orange's structure has accumulated a heterogeneous set of tools and processes, resulting from multiple international acquisitions.

In 2015, faced with the need to modernise and harmonise the digitalised management of this heritage, Orange launched a consultation which was won by AREMIS based on the ARCHIBUS platform.

Challenge

Modernising a complex real estate information system

The main challenge for Orange was to centralise and optimise the management of its spaces and real estate projects.

 

The real estate information system, although functional, was old and composed of around thirty software components developed over more than 20 years.

 

Maintenance, space occupancy and project monitoring were scattered across numerous tools.

 

In addition, the challenge extended to rationalising costs, managing vacant space and improving services offered to employees.

Solutions

Flexibility and centralisation with AREMIS

AREMIS has designed a modular solution with ORANGE to meet these challenges, based on several pillars:

 

- Space and occupancy management: Implementation of a mechanism for allocating square meters to the group's various entities, allowing internal invoicing and precise monitoring of the occupancy of 200,000 workstations.

- Property portfolio maintenance: convergence towards centralised management of corrective and preventive maintenance, covering the entire property portfolio, today it is approximately 175,000 annual requests processed.

- Property project monitoring: Implementation of a tool to manage 1,000 Capex projects per year, representing an annual investment of 300 million euros. This tool facilitates information sharing, budget validation and workflow monitoring.

- Flex-office optimisation: Development of a solution for monitoring dynamic spaces, adapted to a changing world of work, with more than 110,000 employees spread across the world.

From suppliers to advisors

With these solutions, Orange continues to support the optimisation of the management of its real estate assets, while improving the flexibility and efficiency of its operations.

The space management system has made it possible to reduce vacant space and optimise the use of offices, a crucial issue in the era of hybrid work.

Maintenance processes have been streamlined, making it possible to manage 500,000 meeting room reservations and 200,000 annual tickets without difficulty.

Today, AREMIS is more than a "digital supplier" for Orange, and is positioned as a true business partner. As Yannis Bacconet says very well: "we must continue in this relationship as much as possible."
